Casa Alianza Honduras – Press Release Tegucigalpa, Distrito Central, 21 June 2019

In light of the fact that children have been murdered by members of the National Army, Military Police for Public Order (PMOP) and National Police within the framework of the citizens’ protests, Casa Alianza Honduras is counting the victims:

  1. a) Murder of a boy of 15 years, Choloma, department of Cortés 3 December 2017.
  2. b) Murder of a boy of 15 years, Agua Blanca Sur, El Progreso, Yoro, 4 December 2017.
  3. c) Murder of a girl of 14 years, in Choloma, department of Cortés 19 December 2017.
  4. d) Murder of a boy of 17 years, Choluteca, Choluteca,                                10 April 2019.
  5. e) Murder of a girl of 15 years, Copán Ruinas, department of Copán, 29 May 2019.
  6. f) Murder of a boy of 17 years, Yarumela, municipality of La Paz, 20 June 2019.

Casa Alianza Honduras:

Expresses its solidarity with the relatives of the murdered children and in turn offers its support in their pursuit of justice.

Casa Alianza Honduras:

  1. Strongly condemns the repression and disproportionate use of force on the part of the National Army, PMOP and the National Police, which has claimed the lives of six children
  2. Condemns the apathy and disinterest of the agents of the judiciary in investigating these deaths and bringing before the courts those responsible, who are members of the army and National Police.

Casa Alianza Honduras:

Is grateful to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights

(OHCHR) for its statement.

Calls for the remaining human rights organisations and organisations for international cooperation to adopt a firm stance towards the current regime in order to stop the repression of peaceful demonstrations, which has resulted in the murder of six children.

Also demands an end to the impunity with which members of the army, PMOP, National Police and death squads operate.
